A Hybrid Bag With Luxury Details: The Anyday 5.0 Ghost Golf Bag Review

If you haven’t heard of Ghost Golf that’s understandable, as the company has only been around since 2020. But thanks to innovative products like their magnetic golf towel and recent line of high quality golf bags, the company is quickly making a name for itself in the golf industry.

One big reason is the Anyday hybrid golf bag. In need of a new bag myself, I decided to put one through its paces and see how it stacks up to its fulsome price point. Let me tell you, it didn’t take long to see why this bag draws such rave reviews. From construction to the easy to use x-strap carry system, the Ghost Anyday 5.0 offers golfers a bag that is comfortable to carry and sturdy enough for the cart. But does it’s performance on the course measure up? I answer those questions and more in this review of the Anyday 5.0 Ghost Golf Bag in Oreo colorway.

Ghost Golf Bag Technical Specifications

First, the details. The Anyday 5.0 is a hybrid golf bag, meaning it’s designed for walking and riding. That’s convenient for players who want the option, but the tradeoff is a higher weight (6.5 pounds) than most stand bags due in large part to its synthetic leather construction. That said, it is comfortable to carry and the dual “x” style strap system makes it extremely easy to take on and off and is completely reversible so you can carry from either side. The carbon fiber legs and rotating base allow the bag to stand on even the steepest slopes, while also staying flat on the cart.

For those who primarily ride, you’ll find it sturdy enough to withstand bumpy terrain and you can secure it to the cart with the pass-through strap. You can also remove the dual strap and attach the provided single strap, or use no strap at all with the easy push button clips. It comes in a 14-way divider, meaning one slot for each of your clubs to protect delicate shafts and handles. If you don’t prefer a 14-way, you can opt for the 7-way divider instead, which I used in this review.

The velvet wrapped dividers provide supreme protection for your expensive grips and shafts, so you won’t have to worry about scratches or dents. I didn’t have any issues getting my full set of clubs in and out of the 7-way, thanks to the 3 full-length and fully enclosed dividers. I also like the dedicated putter well, which presented no issues even with the fat grip I use on my trusty KS1 (that’s right, Costco golf for the win!).

Pockets and Storage

The Anyday 5.0 has plenty of storage, even if it doesn’t have a pocket that runs the entire length of the bag. Instead, you’ll find a large storage compartment with seam-sealed zippers on both sides along with a felt-lined waterproof valuables pouch and cooler-lined magnetic sleeve. You can fit a large water bottle here or even a couple beers, and they’ll stay cool for your whole round. This pocket assembly is the same on both sides and I found it spacious enough to carry two jackets, a rain hat, and two 22 ounce beers. You won’t have any issue finding space for whatever you need on the course.

The front pocket is very spacious, and the panel can be customized with your name or a design of your choice. Above the front pocket is a felt-lined magnetic pocket that is perfect for quick access items like a rangefinder or sun glasses. There’s even a slot for a pen, which walkers will appreciate while keeping score on the course. On both sides of the front pocket are additional thermal-lined pockets for water bottles and other small gear, and they cinch tightly shut with a handy drawstring.

Features

As far as features go, Ghost Golf really shines here. The towel carabiner ring has a velcro top that will hold your golf glove. I walked from hole to hole with my glove attached because I wanted to see how well it held, and it didn’t seem like it was going anywhere, so I’m confident it will hold in most conditions.

The Anyday 5.0 comes with a single strap for riding and the aforementioned dual strap for carrying, and ample padding on either side to make it comfortable regardless of which side you carry from. Despite it being heavier than most stand bags, it’s still surprisingly light and I had no trouble carrying it on my very hilly course. I can’t say enough about how easy the dual strap makes getting it on and off; this was a pain point for me on my old Ping Hoofer, so I was really impressed with the construction.

The synthetic leather material is the same as what is used in many luxury cars, and it’s a striking look that offers high durability and water resistance. It does come with a snap-on rain hood so you can play through the elements. I tested out the Oreo colorway but there are four others available and they’re all equally handsome; you’ll be impressed with the overall look and get ready for many compliments from your playing partners.

There’s also a snap-on stencil for marking or lining your golf balls, and a really nicely designed bag tag where you can put your contact information. They also include extra pulls for the zipper, all adorned with their motto “Play Fearlessly.”

What is the History of Ghost Golf?

Ghost Golf launched in September of 2020 with an innovative magnetic golf towel and also sold custom designed belts and gloves, experiencing fast growth amongst golf enthusiasts. Then in 2022, the Irvine, CA company launched the Anyday golf bag. Ghost Golf releases them in limited edition “drops,” meaning that if you want one you better buy it while supplies last, or it may be a long time before you get another chance!

Customization & Add-Ons

As mentioned, Ghost Golf will personalize the front panel of the bag for you, for a fee. Putting your name on it is $40, or $60 for a logo, or you can get both your name and a logo for $80. You will see an ADD PERSONALIZATION button on the product page where you can begin this process.

Ghost also offers a line of accessories that will match your preferred colorway. For instance, you can pick up their Golf Utility Pouch for additional storage in any of the 5 colorways offered in the Anyday line. The utility pouch is made with the same synthetic leather material, making it water-resistant and highly durable. It is lined with silky-soft velour to protect your gear, and clips to the bag with an included carabiner. The pouch actually has two pockets, one zippered compartment for valuables and an open button pocket for quick-access items. There’s also a handsome golf shoe bag available as well, so if you want your entire getup to match, you’ve definitely got this option! Finally, there’s a golf cart strap sleeve made from neoprene rubber that slides over the golf cart strap, keeping it from causing damage to the bag due to friction and scratches.

Finally, it’s worth giving a shout out to their flagship product, the magnetic golf towel. The company has design patents and a utility patent pending for this innovation, as the magnet allows it to be picked up easily off the turf with the head of your golf club. It can also be attached to the cart or the bag for convenient access. The towels are as high-end as the bags themselves, made with a premium microfiber that is very absorbent and easy to clean. The towels come in two sizes: greenside (a smaller square) or caddie (a longer rectangle).

Final Thoughts

This is an amazing bag. It is beautiful, functional, and easy to carry. If you want a sturdy bag for riding with the flexibility of the stand bag, and don’t mind paying $380-$415, then this is one you should consider. I loved how easy the bag was to put on and off and pleased that it can carry enough water and adult bevies for any type of round I find myself playing. The pockets provide easy access and plenty of storage for your gear and you can access them while you’re walking, which is nice.

It is very well made and the synthetic leather provides style, water resistance and durability for whatever the round throws at you. This is a choice bag and you can’t go wrong no matter your walking or riding preference. For me, it might be a little too heavy because I walk most of the time (and already have a cart bag, a vintage leather Burton that will never be replaced), but that’s my only reason to downgrade it in my reviews of golf stand bags. However, I would highly recommend the Ghost Anyday 5.0 Golf Bag to anyone who is in the market for a high-end, handsome, and fully-equipped chariot for your favorite flat sticks.

If you’re interested in finding the right golf bag to fit your game, the Anyday 5.0 should definitely be on your list!
